Culture Clash, along with Little Elephant, Little Elephant Custom Vinyl, and Screenin’ Fever, have been printing and distributing Black Lives Matter yard signs since June 2020. Together, our businesses funded the initial run of 50 express-printed signs, in order to ensure that 100% of donations are used to print more and support local BLM movement-affiliated organizations. Screenin’ Fever and other area printers we’ve contracted have now printed over 500 signs, and we’ve been able to distribute over $1,000 in donations (and counting!) across Community Solidarity Response Network and two local protest-organizing groups. We will continue to put donations toward printing more signs, and distributing all remaining funds to these vital local organizations.

This effort is an expression of solidarity with the movement from our white-owned Toledo-area music industry businesses, and in recognition of the fact that our industry is built from appropriation and commodification of Black culture.

Thanks to a generous donation from a customer who hopes to see more of these signs around town, we will continue to distribute these signs at Culture Clash and accept donations, but we will not refuse a sign to anyone who wants one.

We suggest a $10 donation per sign if you can afford it. You’re making a contribution simply by continuing to assert that Black lives matter.
